Legal Crèche Grafiti
Report from Patrick and Amanda in Harding

Patrick and  Amanda are a married couple from America who have volunteered at Doctors for Life and who assist with the AIDS Orphans in South Africa. They are currently stationed at the Doctors for Life centre in Harding. The following is the latest report back received from the dedicated couple.

Recently I used some old gang skills of mine that I never thought I would do again. It was an unusual day at our orphanage in Africa.

Before I was a Christian I was involved with graffiti gangs in the USA. I remember the night I got saved I went home smashing all my graffiti tools. I never thought I would do it again. I never thought I would do it legally and for the orphans of South Africa .

The Lord blessed DFL's day care centre with money and we were able to buy some new items for the crèche. We bought items to make things more neat and in order. Things like toy trunks, draws, and an ugly 2nd hand file cabinet. My wife Amanda made that thing look really fun after she used her art skills. The icing on the cake was when one of the kids came up to me as I was drawing on the wall and said "Uncle thank you very much" and he pointed at the wall and then went on rolling his car tyre". It was cute. That put a huge grin on my face.

We had a blast. The children loved it. The community was jealous said Eunice, the care taker who is in charge of the centre. It looks like a real school.

If only my old gang can see me now...

Doctors for Life International represents more than 1000 medical doctors and specialists, three-quarters of who practice in South Africa. DFL was founded as a South African organization in 1991 and has spread across the globe. DFL is involved in several community projects including orphan care, the care of terminal AIDS patients, malaria prevention and the care of abused women.
