Cast Your Bread Upon the Waters:

Aid to Africa, the medical outreach initiative of Doctors For Life International, was recently invited to address a group of young people (mostly university and high school students) at the launch of Jabulane Alive Ministries (JAM). The theme of the presentation lead by Mr Johan Claassen, coordinator of the project Aid to Africa, was "To cast your bread upon the waters". This has truly become a theme that summarizes what Doctors For Life has been experiencing with our outreaches.

Doing missionary work or outreaches can sometimes make you wonder whether spending all the resources, funds, time and efforts is really the 'logical thing to do'. It is like casting your precious bread upon the water. However, the return of this investment , whether you see it now already or not, is realy the promise that one continues to hope upon even though its seems to be against all odds. It makes it over and over worthwhile to continue to reach out to people no matter what the cost.

JAM aims to recruit and utilize young people on evangelical outreaches in the underprivileged areas of South Africa and neighboring countries. Quite a few medical students attended the weekend at the Apostle Battery camp site near Lundutno, Cape Town as well. DFL has been using medical students on outreaches to their Medical Clinic in Zavora, Mozambique for the past 2 years.
